Some people will require stitches to close the wound, and some won\u2019t. In certain cases, surgery may even lead to bruising, swelling, and discomfort. Your dentist will give you aftercare instructions on how to properly clean your mouth and protect it from harm. Make sure that you follow this advice closely. The aftercare instructions your dentist gives you will usually include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Rinse with warm salt water<\/strong> \u2013 Add half a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water and rinse with it to keep the surgical spots clean. A few tips to facilitate the healing process include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Apply a cold compress \u2013 <\/strong>If you\u2019re experiencing pain, swelling, or bruising, apply an ice pack or a cold compress to lessen discomfort.<\/li><li><strong>Watch your diet <\/strong>\u2013 Eat soft foods like pureed fruits and veggies, smooth or blended soups, yogurt, scrambled eggs, and cooked cereals to avoid complications.<\/li><li><strong>Rest <\/strong>\u2013 Make sure to give your body time to heal by getting plenty of rest.<\/li><li><strong>Antibiotics <\/strong>\u2013 If your dentist prescribes antibiotics to prevent infection, take them as directed and stop using them if a rash or other unfavorable reaction occurs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By following these steps, you\u2019ll be able to recover quickly and correctly.
