How Long Does It Take to Get Cosmetic Dentistry?
December 11, 2025

You don’t have to put up with a smile that you aren’t proud to show off. There are a variety of cosmetic treatments available to help transform your grin into one that makes you feel confident. However, something that you might be wondering is how long you can expect the results to last. Continue reading to learn about some of the most common cosmetic treatments and how you can experience their benefits.
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain. They are adhered to the front surfaces of the teeth to cover up a variety of imperfections, including chips, cracks, stains, gaps, undersized teeth, and misshapen teeth. Veneers are typically placed in two appointments a couple of weeks apart. Between the appointments, the patient is provided with temporary veneers to keep their teeth protected when the final restorations are being made. Veneers are very durable and can last upward of 15 years when cared for properly.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Tooth-colored fillings are very durable and can last up to 15 years or longer before needing to be replaced. Tooth colored fillings are usually placed in a single appointment. Your dentist will begin by numbing the area with a local anesthetic. Then, the tooth is prepared. This involves your dentist removing your old filling or any damaged/decayed portions. Next, they will clean the area before applying the new filling material. Tooth-colored fillings are made from composite resin. Your dentist will harden the filling material with a special light before polishing it so that it blends in seamlessly with the rest of your smile.
Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding involves the use of composite resin to reshape and repair imperfections present on or around the teeth. Your dentist sculpts the tooth-colored composite resin to the affected tooth to cover up minor flaws. Typically, this can be completed in a single, hour-long appointment. The result of this treatment usually lasts anywhere from three to five years or longer when cared for properly. While this will need to be replaced over time, it is one of the most affordable cosmetic dental procedures available and can usually be completed in a single appointment.
Cosmetic dentistry can make a huge transformation in your smile, and it doesn’t usually take very long to get. By caring for your results, you can continue to show off beautiful results for many years into the future.
