Fact or Fiction? Dental Myths Solved!

August 22, 2014

485017745As you go through life, you develop the ability to decipher fact from fiction. From old wives’ tales to urban myths, there are many stories out there that people are constantly trying to figure out whether they are true or not. Ironically, the same thing goes for your smile. There are many dental myths that people want to get to the bottom of, and we would like to clear a few of them up for you!

One dental myth that may be confusing people is if bleaching your teeth weakens your smile. Fortunately, that is not true! If you are wanting to whiten your smile, you do not have to worry about your smile weakening, as the bleaching gel used to whiten smiles only affects the color of your enamel, not the strength. Though it is common to experience sensitivity after whitening your smile, it does not mean that your smile has gotten weaker.

Another common myth going around regarding your smile is that you should not brush your teeth if your gums are bleeding. Although it may seem to makes sense not to brush your teeth if your gums are bleeding, that is actually the opposite from what you really want to do. If your gums are bleeding, that is typically a sign of plaque and other particles aggravating your gums and other soft tissues. In order to stop the bleeding, you want to brush your teeth thoroughly.

Although it is important to be as informed as possible with many things, one thing you definitely want to know as much as possible about is your smile. Having a healthy smiles often times result in good overall health, and that should give you a reason to smile!

April 15, 2014

this attractive man likes to floss!

A lot of people do not understand the importance flossing has on your overall oral health. Believe it or not, flossing every day can add up to six years on your life expectancy, and it eliminates the potential for heart disease, gum disease, and other harmful ailments. When bacteria are left to harden and turn into tartar, a buildup of plaque can wreak havoc on your mouth in a shorter amount of time than you may realize. At Blanco Circle Dental Care, we want to make sure our patients are will informed to ensure clean, healthy mouth!

In order to floss correctly, you must be sure to maneuver the floss up and down in between your teeth. This will be able to loosen and free any remaining food or bacteria. You must also keep in mind that you have to get below the gum line, and to form a C around the sides of the tooth. Be sure not to press down too hard and damage your gums, as this can only do more harm than good.

Flossing is beneficial, not only in keeping your teeth clean and healthy, but also by being able to control bad breath. Without all of the bacteria left sitting in your mouth, your breath will freshen and help you feel more confident in your smile! Getting into the regular habit of flossing everyday can give you a much better result when you go in for your dental checkups, as well as maintaining overall health in your body!

Blanco Circle Can Help You with Root Canals

January 8, 2014

Regardless of what you may have heard, root canals get rid of your pain; they do not cause pain. An infected tooth not only causes an immense amount of pain, but can be more of an expensive investment down the road if nothing is done. At Blanco Circle Dental Care, we want to make sure we take care of all of your dental needs, and Dr. Klugman and Dr. Bianco is able help you along that journey!

Having a root canal done not only helps in getting rid of your pain, but it also benefits your teeth. A root canal is performed when there is an infected or decayed tooth, and the decomposition has to be removed before it gets any worse. The doctors commence your root canal by accessing the infected tooth, and removing the pulp. When the tooth is infected, it also infects the pulp of the tooth, causing it to exacerbate. Once the pulp of the tooth is removed, our doctors will fill the tooth with a tooth-colored filling, and top it with a crown to prevent any further corruption. In the end, you’re left feeling refreshed and in better oral health!

When you leave your teeth infected, not only can your mouth get worse, but it can affect you in other areas of your body. By delaying getting a root canal, the bacteria infecting your teeth can enter your blood stream, possibly causing destruction to the rest of your body. It’s better to take care of your oral issues sooner rather than later or it may get worse! If you’re wondering how Dr. Klugman or Dr. Bianco can help you by performing a root canal, contact our office and make an appointment!

Delaying Dental Treatment

June 11, 2013

Do you need dental work performed but find yourself putting it off? Unfortunately, you’re not alone. At Blanco Circle Dental Care we try to encourage our patients to visit us as soon as possible. Many people delay dental work for numerous reasons, including the following:

  • Fear
  • Cost of the procedure
  • Sounds and smells
  • Appointment time
  • Pain or discomfort
  • Not wanting to be judged
  • Health concerns

No matter how good your reasons to delay your dental care may seem, in the end they’re simply not worth it. Delaying dental care only makes the issues worse. This could lead to more pain or discomfort, or even a dental emergency. When you finally do seek treatment, it may end up being more expensive than if it had been treated earlier.

Also, you’re putting yourself at a higher risk for losing a tooth. Not only is it expensive to replace missing teeth, but it also puts you at risk for losing more teeth. Delaying dental care only serves to put the health of your smile at risk.

If you need dental work done, give us a call today. Our caring staff is here to help and meet all your dental needs. There’s no need to delay your dental care any longer.

At Blanco Circle Dental Care, Dr. Gary Klugman and Dr. Christina Bianco provide quality general, cosmetic and sedation dentistry services.
